While Austin has always been known for one of the few beautiful places in the world that escapes natural disasters, such as earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc., sadly Austin has had several devastating fires that have ruined hundreds (more than 1400) homes in the Bastrop area. These fires have affected so many families in the Austin area over the past few weeks. If you want to help out any of the families in need, there are many organizations that will not only take your donations, but many will even match them! Here are some of the items they are looking for:
-sleeping bags, blankets, pillows
-work gloves
-bottled water and sports drinks
-non-perishable food items
-heavy duty trash bags
-flash lights and batteries
